To your desired degree programme in three steps:

  1. Click on our application portal
  2. Select the degree programme "Electrical Energy Systems and Electromobility"
  3. Fill out the Application for Admission, print it, sign it and send it with the required documentation by post to the Graduate School at the Ulm University of Applied Sciences

Admission prerequisites

A prerequisite for admission to the degree programme EE is an above-average qualification in a technically-oriented degree: with a standard study period of at least three years and course content corresponding to at least 180 ECTS credit points – at a German university of applied sciences or a comparable foreign university.

Furthermore, you should have sound knowledge and expertise: equivalent to that obtainable at the Ulm University of Applied Sciences in the Bachelor's degree programmes offered by the departments Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering, and Mechatronics and Medical Engineering, or in the degree programme Energy Systems.

Other prerequisites are a good knowledge of German and English, as well as successful participation in a selection interview, where you must achieve a grade of at least "pass" (4.0).

If you are not able to provide complete evidence of the knowledge and expertise listed above before starting your studies on the Master's degree programme, but (due to the quality of your first degree and the result of the selection interview) it is to be expected that you will be able to complete the degree programme successfully, you may be admitted: on the condition that you acquire the missing knowledge within one semester.

Application deadline

The degree programme EE is offered in both the winter and the summer semester.

You must submit your application by June 1 for the winter semester and December 1 for the summer semester. These are cut-off dates. That means applications which are received later will not be considered, even if missing the deadline was not your fault. Here it is the date which the application reaches the University of Applied Sciences which is important, and not the postmark.

Since your application can only be processed if all the documentation is complete and submitted by the deadline, you should apply early so that any questions arising can be clarified in time before the close of applications.

Necessary documents

  • Officially certified school certificate and first degree certificate
  • If you do not yet have the qualification permitting you to study for a Master's degree: certificate for application for a Master's degree programme – showing your average grades so far and your ECTS credit points
  • For foreign students: certificate of language proficiency and official recognition of your certificates by the Studienkolleg Konstanz
  • Curriculum Vitae with no gaps, in tabular form with date and signature
  • Letter of motivation (between one and two A4 pages)
  • If applicable, further documentation as evidence of employment or matters of fact

Please do not submit any original documents with your application.

Admissions process

You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your application has been received. The issuing of the study places will then be defined in a suitability assessment process, where suitable applicants must take part in a selection interview. The interview will generally take place at the Ulm University of Applied Sciences, in the first three weeks after the application deadline. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a written invitation informing you in advance of the exact date and time, as well as the location of the interview.

After the interview, you will be evaluated for the Master's degree programme on a grade scale from 1.0 to 5.0, according to your ability and attitude.

To be admitted to study, you must achieve a grade of at least 4.0.

The notifications of admission are expected to be sent out by post in the first week of February for the summer semester and in the first week of August for the winter semester. The rejection letters generally follow one or two weeks later. If study places remain unfilled, applicants who took part in the selection interviews may be subsequently considered.
