A Bachelor’s degree in a computer science-related subject is a prerequisite for admission to the Master’s degree program IS. You must have at least 60 ECTS credits acquired from the study of computer science-based subjects. Another prerequisite is successful participation in a selection interview, where you must achieve a grade of at least "pass" (4.0). As the lectures are conducted in English, excellent written and spoken English is an additional requirement.
If you are not able to provide complete evidence of the knowledge and skills stated above before starting your studies on the Master's degree program, but (due to the quality of your first degree and the result of the selection interview) it is to be expected that you will be able to complete the degree program successfully, you may be admitted: on the condition that you acquire the missing knowledge within one semester.
Close of applications
The degree program IS is offered in both the Winter and the Summer Semester. You need to submit your application by June 1 for the Winter Semester and December 1 for the Summer Semester. These deadlines are cut-off dates. That means applications which are received later will not be considered, even if missing the deadline was not your fault. Since your application can only be processed if all the documentation is complete and submitted by the deadline, we recommend you apply early on, so that any questions arising can be clarified in time before the close of applications.
- First degree certificate (simple copy)
- If you do not yet have a certificate when you make your application, then submit a certificate for application for a certificate for application for a Master's degree program and an up-to-date overview of your grades
- Curriculum Vitae with no gaps, in tabular form with the date and your signature
- Letter of motivation, between one and two A4 pages
- Residence permit (certified copy) for applicants from abroad
- Foreign students: official recognition of your certificates from the Studienkolleg Konstanz/Center for International Students and a certificate of language proficiency
You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your application has been received. The issuing of the study places will then be defined in a suitability assessment process, where suitable applicants must take part in a selection interview. The interview will generally take place at Ulm University of Applied Sciences, in the first three weeks after the application deadline. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a written invitation informing you in advance of the exact date and time, as well as the location of the interview.
After the interview, you will be evaluated for the Master's degree program on a grade scale from 1.0 to 5.0, according to your ability and attitude. To be admitted to study, you must achieve a grade of at least 4.0.
The notifications of admission will be sent out by post around the first week of February for the Summer Semester and around the first week of August for the Winter Semester. The rejection letters generally follow one or two weeks later. If study places remain unfilled, applicants who took part in the selection interviews may subsequently be considered.
If you are accepted to study at Ulm University of Applied Sciences, you will receive a written Notification of Admission giving you all the information you need about enrollment. Please read the information carefully and adhere to the specified registration period.
To enroll at Ulm University of Applied Sciences you must send us the documents specified in the Notification of Admission, along with evidence that you have paid the administration fee and the fee for the Students' Union. Your enrollment will then be confirmed with a letter.
