Automotive Center

Automotive Center

The central infrastructure in the Automotive Center is a dual-axis-drive roller dynamometer (150 kW per axis) and an engine test bench (370 kW). We can cyclically load battery systems using an electrical source sink (100 kW), as well as operating hybrids and electric drives without their own battery system – both on the roller dynamometer and the engine test bench.

Both test rigs can simulate real driving situations, partially automatically. The acquired driving data can be analyzed and processed using data mining techniques. The tests are accompanied by multi-domain simulations.

In addition to cars and light commercial vehicles, we also study e-bikes. The aim of our investigations is, for example, to optimize the powertrain and energy conversion. Anticipatory energy management is a particular area of focus.
