Industrie 4.0

Industrie 4.0

Here the focus is on innovative approaches for integrating pioneering digital technology into industrial processes and applications – to increase efficiency and quality as well as conserving resources and protecting the environment, with opportunities for new commercial prospects. Here the human being should not ever be replaced, but better supported and unburdened to a greater extent than was previously possible.

The research at Ulm University of Applied Sciences concentrates on the development of lean application processes and application technologies for assembly, manufacturing and logistics – e.g. using robotics, flexible automation and decentralized control of materials handling equipment, planning and control of production systems and value networks, as well as in standards and IT architectures (such as RAMI 4.0).

THU pays particular attention to medium-sized companies, their needs and capabilities. An important aspect here is the accelerated transfer of creative ideas and scientific results into practical use. This is an important key to strong innovation and ensuring technological superiority.
