Application and admission explanation video

The following video explains how you can apply for your THU study place via hochschulstart.de and how important it is for you to set the THU to Priority 1. The following link plays an external video from YouTube.com (embedded with extended data protection).

This shows you an excerpt with the individual steps for application:

It is important that you specify your priorities, otherwise our THU admission offer might not even reach you. The highest prioritization can result in immediate admission – so place us on priorities 1, 2 and 3 with your three favorite degree courses, and your ticket to the THU is as good as yours.

  2. Select your desired degree program.
  3. Fill out the Application for Admission, print it, sign it and send it to Ulm University of Applied Sciences (SSC) with the required accompanying documentation.

Here is the checklist for your application.

Applying for a dual study program

We are delighted that you have chosen an Ulm University of Applied Sciences dual study program. A special contract with a company is required for both dual study options – the Ulm Model or studying with in-depth practical experience. To apply to study with in-depth practical experience, please follow the "Bachelorbewerbung " (Bachelor's application) route.

Please proceed as follows for the Ulm Model study program. It is only possible to start the Ulm Model dual study programs in the winter semester. You should make your application to a partner company early enough – generally at least one year before the start of the course. The degree programs following the Ulm Model are subject to limited admission – value is placed on above-average mathematical and scientific knowledge. Therefore the average grade is calculated from mathematics, one science subject (e.g. physics, chemistry, computer science etc.) and the foreign language. This grade should not be higher than 2.5.

We hope the following information will help you find your feet quickly and allow you to successfully secure a place at our university. Ms.Ihlein at Student Services (SSC) will be happy to answer any questions and help you on your way to studying with the Ulm Model at Ulm University of Applied Sciences. Good luck, we look forward to seeing you!

To your desired Ulm Model degree program in four steps:

  1. Select a partner company from our list of companies and apply using the most recent academic certificate/school report you have.
  2. As soon as Ulm University of Applied Sciences receives a contract from the company signed by both parties, we will check the admission prerequisites and, if necessary, confirm admission to the degree program.
  3. Then send your completed Application for Admission and your curriculum vitae to Ulm University of Applied Sciences.
  4. After you receive your Notification of Admission, you must enroll in person at Ulm University of Applied Sciences.

Applying for a Bachelor's degree program with a foreign higher education entrance qualification

  1. Make sure you apply to the Studienkolleg Konstanz sufficiently in advance for recognition of your higher education entrance qualification. We can only include you in the selection process if you submit this "recognition" with your Application for Admission (German citizens with a foreign higher education entrance qualification should apply to the Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart).
  2. Please ensure you can provide documentary evidence of the required language proficiency (at least level B2) and submit this with your application.
  3. Please register yourself on hochschulstart.de. There you will find all you need to know about DoSV, the new Germany-wide admissions process.
  4. Select your desired degree program.
  5. Fill out the Application for Admission, print it, sign it and send it to Ulm University of Applied Sciences (SSC) with the required accompanying documentation.
  6. If you receive an offer from Ulm University of Applied Sciences after the close of applications, you must actively accept this on the hochschulstart.de website. Your Notification of Admission letter will inform you about everything else which is important for your enrollment.
  7. Do you believe you might not have to pay the fees for international students? Then find out more here.

Please note that, in line with data protection legislation, we will destroy your application documentation and your application from past application procedures will no longer be valid. Please reapply online via Hochschulstart.de and by post. However, if you have already studied the same degree program at our university, this is treated as re-entering your studies. Please consult the Chair of the Examination Committee for the relevant degree program.

Joining the program in a higher semester

You do not need a hochschulstart.de account to apply to join a higher semester. You need to take a good look at the course and examination regulations and decide carefully which semester you would like to apply for. This depends on which modules you can get recognition for. Please contact the Chair of the Examination Committee for the relevant degree program to agree on the appropriate semester.

The deadlines for applying for a higher semester are as follows:

for the following Summer Semester until January 15 of that year,

for the following Winter Semester until July 15 of that year.

Applications for a higher semester cannot be considered after the deadline has passed.

There is no Clearing process offered for applications for a higher semester.

This does not affect the possibility of having previously-acquired competence recognized after enrollment and subsequent placement in a higher semester.
